Private residence

Colonial portal and corredor. As an addition to a late 1800s colonial house, the goal was to integrate the terrace and roof seamlessly into the original architecture. To accomplish this we used all reclaimed local hardwood (ebony, amapa, and mora) beams, columns and vigas for the roof. We commissioned traditional hand made cement tile for the floor, and the column bases were a combination of antique original cantera and faithful reproductions. We finished off with ceiling fans, period style wall sconces, and upturned outdoor lights highlighting the columns.

"You and your team did a wonderful job building our new patio. Your dedication to using historically accurate materials and techniques resulted in an addition that looks as if it had always been a part of the house. We appreciated your creative input, attention to detail, and commitment to giving us exactly what you promised. Great job! The new patio is already one of our favorite places in the house."

New construction with vintage colonial detail

Faced with a one room colonial era building with no roof and the unsatisfactory beginnings of new construction, a decision was made to use the original front room as a garden entrance and proceed building a new home maximizing use of space in this traditional narrow deep lot.

To utilize the hill location, we built up, with incorporating an internal atrium and a back garden area for light and air, balconies and a rooftop terrace. Up to date water system and other services were hidden in a roof area above the laundry, apart from the front ocean view roof terrace with wet bar. All reclaimed wood was used for a distinctive look to the windows, doors, decorative beams, and kitchen cabinets.

Though from the front the house still appears to be a small colonial house, we successfully used the space to comfortably feature 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, office with internal view balcony and an eat-in kitchen.

"This house is my dream come true. It has all the charm of the older houses yet is modern and comfortable and all new! They delivered on time, on budget, and with ideas that improved on mine!"

Pool tile, resurfacing and deck tiling.

Replacing a dull and uneven composition pool deck with large (18"x18") textured tile and extending the existing mosaic tile edge to roll up over the edge to meet the new surface. Natural drainage of the pool decking was accomplished by imperceptibly small and precise inclines that naturally move the water away from the pool towards the outside borders

"What an improvement! We are very happy with the work. The mosaic edge matches perfectly and surface tile work was totally professional".

O'Neil- Manager, Old Mazatlan Inn
